How it works

   Drag the corners or edges of the crop box over the live preview of your image to select exactly the area you want to keep.

Features

  Your selection is stored as a percentage of the image's dimensions rather than fixed pixels, so it maps correctly no matter the source image's actual resolution.

  The result is written out as a standard JPEG. Since JPG has no alpha channel, this is a straightforward re-compression — there's no transparency to worry about losing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I select the crop area?

After uploading your image, a crop box appears over a live preview. Drag any corner or edge of the box to resize it, or drag inside the box to move it — the area inside the box is what gets kept.

Can I select any crop area, or is it fixed?

The crop is free-form — there's no fixed aspect ratio, so you can select any rectangular area of the image you like.

Can the selection be too small?

If you shrink the crop box down to nothing, the tool rejects the request and asks you to select a larger area.

Will cropping change the quality of my image?

Cropping only trims the frame — the remaining pixels are not resized. The output is re-encoded as JPEG, so a small amount of standard JPEG compression is applied, same as any JPG save.

Can I crop other image formats?

This tool only accepts JPG and JPEG files. For PNG or WebP sources, use the crop-png or crop-webp tool instead — both keep transparency intact.

What happens to my file after I download the result?

It's processed on our servers only long enough to perform the crop, then deleted automatically right after your download completes — nothing is kept or shared.
