How much will my PDF be compressed?

It depends on the content of your PDF. PDFs with lots of metadata, embedded thumbnails, or uncompressed streams can be reduced by 10–40%. Already-optimized PDFs may see smaller gains. You will always see the exact result before downloading.

Which compression level should I choose?

Standard is the best choice for most use cases — it strips unnecessary metadata and re-encodes streams efficiently. Use Low if you need to preserve every detail of the PDF structure. Use High if file size is the top priority.

Will the content of my PDF change?

No. Text, links, and page layout are fully preserved at all compression levels. The compression works by removing metadata and optimizing internal PDF structures, not by altering visible content.

Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

No, password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be compressed. Remove the password protection first using your PDF reader, then compress the file.

Does this recompress the images inside my PDF?

No. Embedded images are left exactly as they are — the reduction comes entirely from removing metadata and re-serializing the PDF's internal object structure. That's why a text-heavy report shrinks more than a scanned, photo-heavy PDF.
