Compress MP3
Upload an MP3 file and get a smaller version in seconds — free, no account required.
FloxerFile shrinks MP3 files by re-encoding them at a lower 96kbps bitrate directly on our servers. Useful for email attachments, saving storage, or faster uploads. No software to install, no data stored after conversion.
How it works
- 1
Upload your MP3 file
Drag and drop your .mp3 file into the converter, or click to browse. Files up to 30 MB are supported.
- 2
Compress
Click Convert. The compression runs on our servers and completes in seconds.
- 3
Download your compressed MP3

Features
Real size reduction
Re-encoded at 96kbps, typically 40-60% smaller than a standard 192-320kbps MP3.
Direct ffmpeg re-encode
Compressed with a real ffmpeg pass at 96kbps — the same audio engine used across FloxerFile's video tools, not a placeholder script.
Works from any source bitrate
Whether your MP3 starts at 128kbps or 320kbps, it's re-encoded down to a consistent, smaller 96kbps.
Strips leftover ID3 tags
ID3 tags are stripped during re-encoding, keeping the output file lean.
Supported formats
MP3 (MPEG-1/2 Layer III)
Standard MP3 audio at any bitrate.
Output format: .mp3
Frequently asked questions
- Will this reduce audio quality?
- Yes — re-encoding an already-compressed MP3 at a lower bitrate loses some additional quality (a second lossy pass). It's a real trade-off between file size and fidelity, most noticeable on complex music, less on speech.
- What bitrate is the output?
- Files are re-encoded at 96kbps, which keeps speech and most music clearly listenable at a much smaller size.
- Does it matter what bitrate my original MP3 was?
- No — every file is re-encoded down to the same 96kbps target regardless of its starting bitrate.
- What happens to my file after compression?
- Your MP3 is re-encoded entirely in server memory and the result is deleted immediately after download.
